BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - 3 hours
Basic Life Support is a level of medical care used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. This session teaches adult rescue, breathing, CPR and first aid for choking (conscious and unconscious). Each participant is tested and certified. This three hour course is required for
full-time drivers and aides.
CALL TAKER/DISPATCH - 3 hours
Call Taker/Dispatch
Call Taker/Dispatch Training focuses on ways to provide outstanding customer service and techniques to maximize telephone and radio communication skills. Role-playing exercises are used to demonstrate effective communication. This three hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
CHILD PASSENGER SEAT SECUREMENT - 1 1/2 hours
Child Passenger Seat Securement
Child Passenger Seat Procurement Training is a practical application to proper child securement in various types of vehicles. Each participant must identify different types of child seats and demonstrate how to properly secure the seat. This one and a half hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
DEFENSIVE DRIVING - 8 hours
Defensive Driving
The purpose of Defensive Driving Training is to give drivers knowledge on how to save lives, time and money by avoiding collisions. This eight hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides and is a National Safety Defensive Course.

DISABILITY AWARENESS PART 1 - 3 hours
Disability Awareness Part 1
Disability Awareness Part 1 focuses on effectively communicating with and understanding the needs of special passengers. Participants are coached on how to emphasize the individual, not the disability. This course contains information on many types of disabilities and topics including:
• ADA Update
• Mobility Impairments
• Short Term Memory Loss
• Conditions of Aging
• Visual Impairments
• Hearing Impairments
• Developmental Disabilities
• Seizures
• Other Disabilities and Impairments
• Hidden Disabilities
This three hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.

Disability Awareness Part 2
DRIVER FATIGUE AWARENESS - 1 hour
Driver Fatigue Awareness
Driver Fatigue Awareness Course meets the Commonwealth of PA-Dept. of Transportation requirement that all Drivers receive one ( 1) hour of Driver Fatigue Awareness Training. This course will give drivers knowledge to understand that fatigue is the result of Physical or Mental exertion that impairs performance and how it relates to safe driving. This one hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
FIRE/EMERGENCY EVACUATION - 1 hour
Fire/Emergency Evacuation
Fire/Emergency Evacuation training is a practical application to fire/emergency evacuation of the vehicle. Each participant verbally explains the sequence of events leading up to an actual evacuation. The participant must identify exit routes and demonstrate how to exit the vehicle based on the special needs of the passengers and the type of emergency. This one hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
FIRST AID - 1 hour
First Aid
First Aid training concentrates on basic first aid and life saving techniques. Each participant is tested and certified. Course topics include:
• Shock
• Bleeding and Wounds
• Cold and Heat related emergencies
• Medical Emergencies
This one hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
HARASSMENT - 1 hour
Harassment
Harassment training is designed to provide managers and supervisors with necessary information regarding harassment laws and how to recognize and manage situations that may arise in the workplace. This one hour course is required for all employees.
ON THE ROAD TRAINING - 16-24 hours
On the Road Training
On the Road training is designed to give the participant an opportunity to become familiar with the operation of a company vehicle and a route. The participant will receive instruction that includes route management, paperwork completion and company policies and procedures. This 16 - 24 hour training is required for full-time drivers and aides.
ORIENTATION - 3 hours
Orientation
Orientation consists of a comprehensive review of TransNet Policies and Procedures combined with open classroom discussion on issues of:
• Employee Standards/ Expectations
• Passenger Assistance
• Accident/ Incident Procedures and Reporting
• Fire Evacuation
• Pre-Trip Vehicle Inspection
• Incentives / Penalties
• Safety Procedures
• Drug and Alcohol Testing
• Substance Abuse
• Stress Management
This three hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
PA ACT 126 - 3.5 hours
PA ACT 126
The PA Act 126 course has three (3) parts, which meet the PA ACT 126 mandatory training for school employees and contractors. Each participant will be tested and receive certification. The training focuses on the following topics:

Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law, facts about child abuse and sexual misconduct. Information
needed to know the basics of PA law involving child abuse and student abuse as well as their duty to report
abuse.

Mandatory Reporting, the Pennsylvania Professional Educator Discipline Act (PEDA), and maintaining
appropriate boundaries between students and school employees.

Effective interventions to support students who have been subjected to abuse and who are at risk from harm.
This three and a half hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
PART TIME / NIGHT DRIVER - 8 hours
Part Time / Night Driver
The Part Time and Night Time Driver Training is specifically for employees who work full-time and are unable to attend normal training. This course includes:

P.A.S.S. - PREVENTING ACCIDENTS THROUGH SAFETY STRATEGIES -
2 hours
P.A.S.S.
Preventing Accidents through Safety Strategies (P.A.S.S.) training provides an employee that has been involved in a preventable accident to verbally explain the sequence of events of the accident. The participants will identify unsafe acts that were a possible cause to the accident and provide safe alternatives for the future. This two hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
PASSENGER ASSISTANCE - 1.5 hours
Passenger Assistance
Passenger Assistance training begins with a brief review of the TransNet Passenger Assistance Policy and continues with the demonstration, explanation, practice and discussion of various passenger assistance techniques with emphasis on good body mechanics. Demonstrations include:

Providing support for Ambulatory Passengers

Providing Support for Semi-Ambulatory Persons

Providing Assistance into and out of the vehicle.

Assisting Passengers to Sit and Stand

Assisting Passengers who use Wheelchairs
This one and a half hour course is required for full-time drivers and aides.
REFRESHER FOR EMPLOYEES 3+ YEARS - 3 hours
Refresher for Employees
The Refresher for Employees course is required for full-time drivers and aides who have been with the organization for three years or more. This course covers everything covered in their previous training courses.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE - 1 hour
Substance Abuse
Substance Abuse training is designed to provide managers and supervisors with the information necessary for them to effectively administer and enforce TransNet's Substance Abuse policy and procedures. Information is updated and presented annually and required for full-time drivers and aides.
WHEELCHAIR SECUREMENT - 1.5 hours

Wheelchair Securement Training includes:
