UMGA TV Upper Merion Township Interviews TransNet

Susan Kopystecki, Executive Director of TransNet, was interviewed on January 23rd on Upper Merion Government Access Television, UMGA-TV, which can be viewed on Comcast 22 or Verizon 33 channels. The segment entitled COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS was hosted by Chuck Kirlin and focused on the services TransNet offers to the residents of Montgomery County. Sue spoke about the history of TransNet which started as a pilot program in 1980 with less than 50 vehicles operated by local taxi companies throughout Montgomery County and 40 years later TransNet is operating approximately 275 vehicles and completed almost a million trips in 2018-2019. There are multiple services TransNet provides including the Shared Ride Program, Persons with Disabilities Program (PwD), Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP), Shuttles for Businesses, Colleges and Universities, and Shuttles for Schools/Camps.

One of the services TransNet provides under contract with Upper Merion Township is The Upper Merion Rambler shuttle. The Rambler service consists of two minibuses identified as the green or blue line and transports local residents to local businesses, King of Prussia mall, shopping centers, and more within the King of Prussia area. The shuttle operates Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Riders who are 65 or older ride at no cost, students ages 7 - 17 ride for $.50, children under age 7 accompanied by an adult ride at no cost, and all other riders can purchase a ten trip ticket for $10 or pay $2 per ride.
